The Malecón of Havana

Of course, it’s a great idea of have party in Havana, Cuba than elsewhere because a party nearby the sea, and its fresh waves will releases a superb sounds for everyone participated in the party, lovers, in particular.

Well, the Malecón of Havana is the place I’m actually talking about. Malecón, situated in front of Carbbean, is a cultural and symbolic place for the Cubans. If you want to know what it means to live a life totally in a fresh air then straightly arrive here, a place naturally blessed in every way.

The Malecón stretches from the Torreón de la Chorrera at the western part to very inside part of the Havana Bay, packed by several different beautiful places as appealing as the Punta fortress. It is truly an outstandingly great place for tourism and culture, image and romance, because of a wide range of streets’ names around it: Margall Avenue, Pí, Maceo or Washington Avenue, and Céspedes.

In 18th century, the place altered its figure from a venue packed with undergrowth and the neighbors started to esteem its beauty and the sea. In 19th century, the use of west side was done for setting up several different establishments with the wood-made bathing houses and some other places known as La Playita y El Progreso.

In 1863, Francisco de Albear y Lara, a military engineer, first planned to built a promenade. It was an immense Malecón with a perfect layout for the railroads, but it was just the initial project. However, during the year 1901, the Malecón’s construction process that we are familiar with at present was started under the US-Intervention. So the earlier plans were mainly designed by the US engineers and this is why, the style highly resembles to New York’s Riverside Drive.

Whatever the history of the Malecón is, one thing is certain that it’s truly a naturally blessed place better to visit out at least once in your lifetime.
